a single room Amish school
fresh red blood soaks into the wood
tears flow freely down stalwart faces
faces that don't show much of joy or grief

school girls selected by whim
killed with bullets fired by a man
who with forethought came to kill and die
why, we ask, where does this vileness come from
it is part of the darkness where evil lives
